I‘m throwing myself a Pity Party and you’re not invited.
My Mind and Body have agreed to a separation and I can’t force reconciliation, so like the child of divorcing parents, I’m lost in the turmoil of two entities that just can’t seem to get along.
Mind has determined that it has waited too long for its partner Body to get its act together.
So here is their story.
Body had a disappointing watts test just before Christmas on the CompuTrainer. Nothing earth shattering but Mind was very disappointed that Body couldn’t hold up its end of the bargain. After-all , shouldn’t Body be somewhat rested without all that running causing problems.
Mind is very annoyed that Body has become such an attention whore with regular visits to the chiropractor and massage therapist for the past year, then a special visit to a podiatrist, and a new relationship just before Christmas with a physiotherapist. Once upon a time, it was just Mind and Body working in unison.
Body has noticed that Mind on the other hand has been totally stressed out with issues related to changes at work, and a very distressing family matter. Body used to take Mind out for long runs that eased the pressure. Now all Body seems to do is complain about its aches and pains. Mind is not very happy with this relationship dynamic, so it decided that it was time for Body to man-up and get its lazy ass out the door.
The first time outside Body was happy to greet the New Year.
The second time out, Body reminded Mind that it does not like winter or cold or wet.
The third time out, Body said, “You’re asking too much of me.”
Mind withdrew and began reminiscing about the year before and how much fun Mind and Body had in Florida. The reminiscing turned in to a Pity Party.
Mind is determined to go back to Orlando in 2013. Body is agreeable but still needs time to get its act together. Attention-whore Body who doesn’t seem to have enough Friends-with-Benefits has a special electro-acupuncture date later this week. Mind is freaked out by needles but is going all-in to get Body back on the road (to recovery).
Together, they are going to seek some counseling with Coach Gabbi. Wish them luck.
